About Us:

Cargurra Park Cottages is made up of two self-catering holiday cottages perfect for families, friends or couples looking to getaway. Our cottages are near the highest point of our 200 acre farm with views of both the farm and Boscastle. They have both been refurbished to a very high standard with new kitchens, bathrooms and famous Delabole slate floors throughout the living/dining/kitchen areas.

Cargurra Farm is an ideal base for families. It has lots of green spaces for the children to safely explore, well away from public roads. The large gardens with picnic tables and bbqs are a perfect place to enjoy the summer sun while watching the children play. A 100m away is a large games room which guests can enjoy free of charge (perfect for rainy days) this includes table tennis, a pool table, darts and toys for children.

For walkers our farm has several footpaths which join you to the North Coast and with it the coastal footpath. From there you can experience the dramatic North coast with its rugged landscape and dynamic ocean. For those less keen on walking Cargurra Farm has good road access allowing you to explore the rest of Cornwall and South Devon.

Great for couples both our cottages have wood burners allowing you to snuggle up in front of the fire and enjoy a glass of wine along with an extensive DVD library.  Our local pub is a 30 minute walk mostly along footpaths meaning there is something for everyone.

Local highlights include our pretty harbour village of Boscastle. Tintagel where you can explore King Arthurs Castle. Wadebridge and Padstow which is linked by a fantastic cycle path and not to be forgotten the beaches. We have sandy beaches which are perfect for children to play, rocky beaches good for exploring and quiet beaches just right for adults to relax. The more adventurous amongst you may wish to enjoy the adrenaline of surfing or the peace and tranquillity of stand-up paddle boarding all of which provide you with a lifetime of holiday memories.

A little further afield you will find the Eden Project famous for its biomes, Truro a cathedral city or St Ives famous for the Tate Gallery.  Cornwall is overflowing with beautiful countryside drives, hidden coves, picturesque hamlets and friendly locals. Around every corner you will find good beer served in a village pub, and fantastic local produce being used to produce high quality restaurant food.

Both East and West Park have been graded by VisitBritain as 4 star. They have been sensitively renovated to incorporate the traditional farm buildings with modern living. Each of the cottages has a well-equipped kitchen with everything you will need for a holiday.  East and West Park sleeps 6 and are dog friendly (there is an additional charge of £20 per dog/per week.)

This land has been farmed by our family for five generation and we want to share it with you offering you our own little piece of happiness while you stay with us. We are always available to help with holiday information or plans, living and working the farm means we are only a phone call away. We look forward to welcoming you to our farm very soon.

About the Owners:

Our holiday cottages are surrounded by the working farm. The farm is listed in the Doomsday book and consists of 320 acres, 100 arable growing barley and the remaining 220 acres are grazed to support around 250 beef cattle. The Elson family have lived on the farm for 5 generations. Gillian and Edward Elson renovated the Barn in 1984, diversifying into tourism. The barn originally housed straw, hay and corn. The two semi-detached cottages you see as you drive into Cargurra Farm – East and West Park – were tide cottages. These were cottages traditionally supplied to farm labourers as a perk of working on the farm. The cottages came with a garden for the tenant to use – this was important as it meant they could live off the land and grow their own produce. The farm is now worked by Julian and his wife Amy who looks after the holiday cottages. In 2015 they had their first child, a daughter and the first female Elson born in 2 generations! They had since had their second child a son born in 2017. Between the Farm, Cottages, children, 2 dogs, 4 cats and a hamster we are quite busy but look forward to welcoming you to stay with us.
