Data Protection
In looking for a holiday with one of our members, you may give Cornish Farm Holidays information about yourself. This document tells you what data we collect and why, what we do with it, how long we keep it, and how you can find out what data we have about you, or get it changed or deleted. We may update this policy from time to time, so check back here if you have any questions.
The data we collect
If you browse the Cornish Farm Holidays website, browser information including your IP address is captured for us by tools such as Google Analytics.
If you search our self-catering or bed and breakfast availability, we also capture the dates of the stay you search for, the number of people staying, and any other details you include in your search, such as specific locations or facilities. The only identifying information we capture at that stage is still your IP address.
If you make an enquiry using the contact form on the Cornish Farm Holidays website, we capture the information you provide there, which normally includes your name and email address.
Data we don’t collect
When you want to book a holiday, we connect you through to the website of the individual Cornish Farm Holidays member you have chosen, and you make your booking with them. Cornish Farm Holidays does not collect any information about you when you book, and we never collect credit card or other financial information from you.
Why we collect and store the data you give us
We collect browser and search information so that we can analyse how people use our website in order to improve the service we provide.
We collect enquiry information so that we can direct your enquiry to the most relevant Cornish Farm Holidays member or members, and so that we can provide assistance if needed.
From time to time we might also use the information you give us to tell you about special offers available from Cornish Farm Holidays’ members. But we’ll only do that if you’ve said it’s OK for us to contact you in that way.
Where we store the data you give us
All the data your give us is stored in professionally managed and protected systems. This includes tools like Google Analytics for web browsing information, and commercial software to manage our website, which is hosted in a secure data centre.
It would be lovely to be able to say that all the systems we use are located in the UK, but some of them such as Google operate internationally, and even UK systems may back up their data to countries outside the European Economic Area.
How long we store your data for
We keep browser and search information for three years so that we can analyse variances in our business.
We keep information from our website contact form until the end of the following year, to ensure that we can help resolve any issues that might arise.
Sharing your data
We only share your data in very limited circumstances. The company that manages our website and our external analytics consultants can see the data we hold, but the contracts we have with them prohibit them from misusing or passing on that data. We never sell your data to third parties.
How to find out what data we hold or get it changed or deleted
Just ask! Email or write to us, and we’ll send you a complete overview of the data we have about you as quickly as we can. Or tell us about any of your data that you’d like changed or deleted, and we’ll be happy to do it.
